About Me

My work in disability and mental health began in Scotland, UK, at Camphill Blair Drummond in 2000. The focus over the years has been on working with families and organisations to provide a safe space for training and discussions about suitable support options, and ensuring access to appropriate information.

I am also involved in research, creating resource material, and consulting on mental health and disability projects. My area of special interest is neurodiversity and the autism spectrum.

I work out of The VLS Workshop, my husband Aditya’s dance, fitness and arts studio. The diversity of people and activities this inclusive community space brings together makes my two children’s lives richer.

Merry Barua

Shaneel is an ethical, experienced and well informed professional. She is a keen advocate of the rights and the inclusion of those with disability. Her approach is person-led, and interactions with individuals are respectful and sensitive.

Anand Balasubramaniam

Autistic Self-Advocate

Shaneel has made remarkably positive differences to the lives of many individuals by virtue of her strong aptitude and experience in the domain of disability and mental health. I can personally affirm her sensitivity, and her kindness and the earnest will to be of help to others.

Anju Das

Parent of R, aged 15

Shaneel is very logical and aligned in her thought process, problem identification and problem solving. She would go into detailed observations about R, ask me to write about my concerns and suggest a to-do list to me. I found it a very methodical and step by step approach.

More about me

I love order and structure, so streamlining all of my worlds into a website seemed like the thing to do.
